According to an official press release by the NY Daily News, the BBQ in the Boros contest is back and a cook-off is planned for June 21st at the Fairway Market in Harlem.
The Daily News is asking for recipe submissions submissions by June 7th at 11:59 PM. Any NYC residents ages 18 and over can enter the contest HERE so long they are not professional chefs.
The Daily News’ panel of judges will then select 5 recipes from each borough (25 total) to be featured in The Daily News on June 21st and also be invited to the cook-off competition to be held at the Fairway Market in Harlem the same day.
Each of the 25 contestants will be given a $100 fairway gift card which they must use to purchase their ingredients for the cook-off, and will cook one plate for judging.
One winner from each borough will receive a $500 Fairway gift card, and the grand prize winner will receive a $1,000 Fairway card.
The Fairway Market’s event’s page invites you to come down on June 21st to taste some BBQ and enjoy the cook off!
Seeing as how Harlem is home to Dinosaur BBQ, Harley’s Smoke Shack, Harlem BBQ, and a variety of other BBQ joints, we should definitely have someone with the talents to take this grand prize. The competition is on our home turf, isn’t it?
Who out there has the skills to bring this one home to Harlem?
