The Harlem Tavern is officially open and it is PACKED. The whole place is beyond my expectations as for seating, finishes, but it was apparent that the staff was completely unprepared for the title wave of customers they received. I didn’t care so much, but I heard a lot of people worried that orders were taking too long etc etc. Get real people!!!!! They were slammed on their opening day give them a break!!!!
The menu is well priced with appetizers in the $7-$11 range, and plates in the $9-$15 range. Most cocktails hover about $9-11 and beers (there’s a TON of beer options) around $5 or $7 a pint.
I know this place is going to do really well. It’s about time we get a hang out spot on FDB other than a restaurant. It’s a fantastic spot for those nice weather days, and I’m sure when it gets cold the tarvern will be a cozy intimate spot to hang.
With a mixture of communal tables and smaller setups, this is a great place for large groups or small parties.
Take the B/C train to 116th street, and the tavern is right there on the NW corner.
